Origin: 
The Wakwa was designed as a beef animal for low to medium input systems of Cameroon. It was made up of 50% Brahman and 50% Ngaundere Gudali. It was initiated in 1953, and the breed was popular, but the numbers failed to meet farmers’ demand. There was no program to develop or multiply the breed. The on-station herd size reached 500 in 1970, but shrunk to only 100 in 1987, with no representation on-farm. The breed was neither registered nor recognized.
